Getting started
Your trips abroad, from a PDF, Word or Excel file
Add the trips that can move your citizenship date the easy way, check them, and change or restore one later.
- 1Answer one questionThe countdown asks whether any year since your start had more than the limit of days abroad. No: you see your date at once and can add trips later from the card under it. Yes, or not sure: you add them.
- 2Add a PDF, Word or Excel file, or typeThe best way is a file you already have: a travel log in Excel, booking confirmations saved as PDF, a trip list in Word or a calendar export, in any language. Every file and every typed list is read by Settio's assistant, which needs a free account: sign in and it is read as soon as you are back. A PDF or photo can be up to 4 MB (a spreadsheet or document up to 40 MB), and you can add up to 5 at a time. Any Excel file works (.xlsx, .xlsm, .xlsb, .xls, CSV), however the dates are written and whatever the order of the columns; an Apple Numbers file needs to be exported to Excel first. The assistant has a fair daily limit. Two ways need no account: pick the dates yourself in a calendar, or give a rough number of days for each year. Settio's assistant reads dates the way a person would, in any language: "a week in Paris at Easter 2024" works, and any date it had to work out is marked for you to check.
- 3Check what was foundEvery trip found is shown before it counts. A date that was hard to read offers its other reading, a year that goes over the limit is flagged, and you can leave any trip out. Only what you add counts.
- 4Change, remove or restore a tripIn your account, tap a trip to change it: you see what the change does to your date before you save. A removed trip can be undone right away, and stays under Removed for 30 days with Restore.
- 5Share without sharing your tripsShare on your road sends a friend the free tool (they get their own date), makes a picture of your countdown with no name and no travel dates, or sends only your date to someone you choose.
Changing an answer, like the day you arrived, keeps your trips and counts them again. The date at the bottom shows the effect before you save.
Your time counts from the day you arrived with a settlement permit or, if you came without one, from the day you applied for it. A trip before then never counts: it is kept and marked Not counted. A trip that began before then counts only from that day, marked Counts from. If that looks wrong, the date to fix is probably your start date.
If the email you sign in with belongs to an employer's team, use your personal email: your answers and your file wait for you.
